Thaumaturgix has been providing technology consulting services to B&H Photo Video, a retailer and mail order company with one of the world's largest inventory of photographic, pro video, pro audio and digital imaging equipment, for over five years. Thaumaturgix built a full-service e-commerce site for B&H, allowing visitors to easily navigate and search B&H's entire inventory. The site interfaces with B&H's backend systems for real-time inventory and pricing information and utilizes the existing order entry and fulfillment systems. The site was launched in June 2000.
HEARST INTERACTIVE MEDIA (http://www.esquire.com and others)
For six years, Thaumaturgix has been entrusted to evaluate, recommend and implement state-of-the-art technologies for several large web media properties owned by the Hearst Corporation. Our team has implemented solutions using Sun, Oracle, Netscape, Java, Interwoven and Check Point in this endeavor. In addition, Thaumaturgix has also been responsible for designing the web infrastructure and secure systems architecture for the entire network, and continues to provide 24x7 TCOS™ AND TSEC™ services for their environment and their hosting facility.
iNTTRA
iNTTRA is a consortium of six of the largest shipping carriers in the world, operating a leading transportation portal that provides a complete set of solutions and information for the international containerized ocean carrier and shipping industry. iNTTRA’s offices are spread across 3 continents (North America, Asia and Europe) and employ a Nokia / Check Point firewall solution for their VPN interconnectivity and security needs. Thaumaturgix was engaged to perform an audit of iNTTRA’s security infrastructure and identified critical vulnerabilities in the firewall and network architecture, and undertook remediation measures to secure the environment. Additionally, performance problems, which had been a key area of concern for iNTTRA’s VPN users were also addressed. Thaumaturgix continues to provide expert systems and security (TSEC™) services to iNTTRA.
CAPITALTHINKING
CapitalThinking is a technology company that provides complete e-finance solutions on an ASP basis to the commercial real estate mortgage industry. The current systems environment is predominantly Sun Solaris; this along with an ATG Dynamo application suite, and Oracle on the back-end, comprises of the technology platform for CapitalThinking’s ASP offering called Bluewire. Thaumaturgix has been providing CapitalThinking with the relevant expertise to assist with several systems and database initiatives.
OXYGEN MEDIA
Oxygen Media, Inc. (Oxygen) is an integrated media brand that produces and operates several online properties targeted towards women. The current systems environment is a heterogeneous mix of Windows NT and Sun Solaris, with an ATG Dynamo application suite, and an Oracle database. Oxygen was seeking to partner with a technology company that could offer systems and firewall support for their Nokia /Check Point firewalls. Thaumaturgix has been providing these services on an on-going basis to Oxygen.
WORKING WOMAN NETWORK
Working Woman Network asked Thaumaturgix to evaluate their existing technologies, make recommendations on how to best leverage their existing infrastructure, and propose a new open technology platform for site-wide implemen-tation. Thaumaturgix was selected to help with the launch of WWN's portal site. During an intensive three-month development effort, Thaumaturgix completed a transition of the development work from the previous vendor, migrated functionality to a BEA WebLogic application server and re-deployed the web site from a PL/SQL code base to a Java-based open architecture model.
RXREMEDY
Thaumaturgix was selected to build a completely dynamic and personalized web site, launched in the fall of 1998 for Rx Remedy, a health-care information provider. Since the launch, Thaumaturgix has remained the primary technical resource, building a system to distribute HealthSCOUT content to affiliate partners for integration on their sites, and adding additional content and features to the HealthSCOUT site. The site and the content distribution system are implemented using WebObjects, Web Logic, Oracle, and Enterprise Java Beans. The site’s applications include: personal health risk assessments, a health-site guide, a library containing medical encyclopedias, latest product recalls, subscription-based services, discussion forums, content management systems and personalized content delivery. A complete administration interface allows editors to easily enter content into the system.
Recently, Thaumaturgix ported a majority of the site functionality to Microsoft environment including IIS, ASP and SQL Server 2000 for MDChoice.com.
HEWLETT PACKARD
Thaumaturgix played a key role in the design and implementation of Hewlett Packard's next-generation Infoworks information management system, which is supporting all of HP's sales, marketing and support information on a worldwide basis. Thaumaturgix gathered global user requirements, investigated candidate technologies, prototyping functional requirements, and eventually writing the implementation RFP. With complex requirements, including multi-language support, global systems distribution, terabytes of data and intelligent replication, Thaumaturgix was able to successfully design and prototype an information management system to support HP's worldwide requirements, which is now in production in HP campuses around the globe.
JUPITER MEDIA METRIX
Jupiter Media Metrix is a leading provider of demographic and statistical information about web site traffic. Thaumaturgix has worked closely with them to define web measurement standards and implement a suite of Java, Perl, and Oracle based tools to gather and analyze web-based information.
SOLBRIGHT
Thaumaturgix worked closely with Solbright helping them to grow from a small start-up full of ideas to a thriving company with several cutting-edge products, which offer automated support to on-line advertising departments. As proof of Thaumaturgix's ability to provide end-to-end services, Thaumaturgix provided several different types of services to Solbright over the course of its growth, including project management, software development, security services, and network and database administration.
RABOBANK NEDERLAND EFFEKTENDIENST
Rabobank is one of the largest banks in the Netherlands with a sizeable presence in Europe. Thaumaturgix worked with Rabobank throughout 1998 and 1999 on numerous projects. In addition to leading the Euro conversion project for global borrowing and lending operations, Thaumaturgix worked with the custody division in implementing a message-oriented middleware to interface with numerous legacy and non-legacy systems. A web-based front office trading system for a global equity finance group joint venture of Rabobank International and Rabobank Nederland was built and implemented internationally, and a web-based system to manage overseas manufactured dividends and the taxation was built and deployed.
BODIES ELECTRIC, INC. (UNCHAT)
The founder of the Walt Whitman Center for the Culture and Politics of Democracy asked Thaumaturgix to develop of an enabling technology that would foster the principles of democratic speech on the Internet. Out of many sessions with a diverse group of academics and researchers in Democratic theory, Unchat was born and defined as a new kind of communications software enabling productive and responsible discourse over a distance. Thaumaturgix designed and developed a robust, highly portable Java-based back-end architecture, along with an innovative front-end, that has enabled organizations to disseminate information and provide a forum for informed and productive discourse and debate. The software is currently in use by M.I.T., Yale Law School, and Columbia.
Unchat was developed using robust open source technologies including Linux, Apache, Tomcat and mySQL. The Unchat server runs on Solaris, Linux and Microsoft NT/2000.
ENCOMPYS
Encompys, a financial services company, provided asset managers with end-to-end web-based solutions for STP, CRM and other front office functions. The systems environment was predominantly MS Windows 2000-based. The technology platform for Encompys's offering included Microsoft IIS with a BizTalk server-based application suite, SQL Server on the back-end, and products from Onyx (CRM), Cognos (Datamining and Reporting) and Plumtree (Portal Software). Thaumaturgix hosted and managed Encompys's development and support infrastructure (approximately 50 servers) on a 24/7 basis in our facilities. Encompys relied on Thaumaturgix not only for full TCOS™ and TSEC™ services, but on-call helpdesk support, enterprise application-level support and integration as well.
